Beljanski® ingredient
What Are Beljanski® Nucleotides?
Beljanski® Nucleotides are a distinctive preparation of short RNA fragments, scientifically described as short-chain polyribonucleotides.
Developed from the research of molecular biologist Mirko Beljanski, PhD, they are derived from ribosomal RNA of the well-characterized, non-pathogenic E. coli K-12 laboratory strain.
They are not DNA, not mRNA, and do not contain live bacteria.
Today, the Beljanski® nucleotide preparation is available in two formulations:
- ReaLBuild®consumer formula
- Immunobel-Pro®professional formula with twice the amount of RNA fragments found in ReaLBuild®
E. coli K-12
- Short RNA fragments from ribosomal RNA
- Non-pathogenic E. coli K-12 laboratory strain, no live bacteria
- Peer-reviewed research since 1979 · U.S. patent 1982
- FDA New Dietary Ingredient record, 1997
The wider science
Why are Nucleotides of Nutritional Interest?
A Field of Research Beyond Beljanski
A nucleotide is the basic building block of RNA and DNA: a sugar, a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base. Chains of nucleotides make up RNA; short chains are called polyribonucleotides, which is what Beljanski® Nucleotides are.
Nucleotides are fundamental biological building blocks. They can be synthesized by the body, recycled through salvage pathways, and obtained through the diet.
For decades, independent nutrition researchers have investigated dietary nucleotides, including whether their nutritional importance may increase under particular physiological conditions.
In 1994, Grimble and Westwood reviewed the nutritional significance of nucleotides in the peer-reviewed journal Gut, including their dietary availability and potential relevance in tissues with rapid turnover.
Two years later, George Grimble addressed the question directly in the British Journal of Nutrition:
“Why are dietary nucleotides essential nutrients?”
The paper further explored the nutritional importance of dietary nucleotide availability under different physiological circumstances.
The scientific interest in dietary nucleotides extends well beyond Beljanski. What makes the Beljanski® preparation distinctive is its source, size, preparation and research history.
Why E. coli K-12?
Not All E. coli Is the Same
The name E. coli can understandably sound concerning.
But E. coli K-12 is a well-characterized, non-pathogenic laboratory strain with a long history of scientific use. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has formally evaluated K-12 derivatives in its biotechnology risk-assessment program.
Beljanski® Nucleotides are derived from purified ribosomal RNA — not live bacteria.

Research history
Nearly 50 Years of Beljanski® RNA Research
Mirko Beljanski began investigating particular short RNA fragments in the 1970s.
A peer-reviewed 1979 publication describes his experimental work with particular fragments produced from ribosomal RNA.
He subsequently received a U.S. patent covering the preparation of defined short-chain polyribonucleotides.

Does the Preparation Matter?
A Human Study Compared Two Different RNA Preparations
In a Phase I clinical study conducted at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and published in the peer-reviewed journal BMC Cancer, researchers compared two short RNA-fragment preparations made according to the Beljanski procedure:
The study evaluated escalating doses of 20, 40, 60 and up to 80 mg in patients experiencing chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia.
The Results Were Different
The researchers reported a dose-related improvement in platelet recovery with the E. coli K-12 preparation.
At the higher doses studied, platelet recovery was significantly greater with the E. coli-derived RNA fragments than with the yeast-derived preparation. The yeast preparation did not demonstrate the same dose-response relationship.
The authors themselves referred to the E. coli RNA fragments as having been developed by Beljanski and concluded that the yeast-derived preparation was less effective in accelerating platelet recovery in the population studied.
Same category. Different source. Different results.
This was a Phase I study in patients with chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia. The authors characterized the findings as preliminary and called for further clinical investigation. These findings do not establish that ReaLBuild® or Immunobel-Pro® diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents thrombocytopenia or any disease.

Immunobel-Pro®
Professional-Strength Nucleotides
Immunobel-Pro® contains twice the amount of RNA fragments found in ReaLBuild® and is reserved for the professional channel.
Its 40 mg level falls within the range of E. coli K-12 RNA-fragment doses investigated in the Phase I dose-escalation study, which evaluated doses from 20 through 80 mg.
Because professional-strength supplementation may benefit from individualized guidance, Immunobel-Pro® is available through qualified healthcare professionals.
The Phase I study used its own research protocol and should not be interpreted as a clinical evaluation of the current Immunobel-Pro® directions for use.
1997FDA New Dietary Ingredient record
A U.S. History Dating to 1997
ReaLBuild® is not a recent addition to the Maison Beljanski line.
In 1997, Natural Source International — now Maison Beljanski — submitted the preparation as a New Dietary Ingredient.
FDA’s historical record identifies: NDI #11 — Nucleotide (ReaL Build)
Nearly 30 years later, nucleotides remain one of Maison Beljanski’s distinctive preparations.
An NDI notification is a regulatory submission and does not constitute FDA approval or endorsement.
Are Beljanski® Nucleotides the same as mRNA?
No. Beljanski® Nucleotides are short fragments derived from ribosomal RNA. They are different from messenger RNA (mRNA), which carries genetic instructions used in protein production.
Do they contain E. coli bacteria?
No. The preparation contains nucleotides derived from purified ribosomal RNA of the non-pathogenic E. coli K-12 laboratory strain — not live bacteria.
What is E. coli K-12?
E. coli K-12 is a laboratory strain of Escherichia coli that has been studied and used in research since the 1920s. It is non-pathogenic, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has formally evaluated K-12 derivatives in its biotechnology risk-assessment program.
Why are they sometimes called RNA fragments?
“Nucleotides” is the consumer-facing dietary-supplement terminology. Scientific and historical publications also describe the Beljanski preparation as RNA fragments, short-chain RNA fragments and polyribonucleotides.
Is this an RNA supplement or a nucleotide supplement?
Both terms describe it. Beljanski® Nucleotides are a dietary supplement made of short RNA fragments, so they can be called an RNA supplement or a nucleotide supplement. What sets the Beljanski® preparation apart is its defined source, its preparation method and its research history.
Which products contain Beljanski® Nucleotides?
ReaLBuild®, available directly to consumers, and Immunobel-Pro®, a professional formula with twice the amount of RNA fragments, available through qualified healthcare professionals.
Are there precautions when taking a nucleotide supplement?
Follow the suggested use on the product label. Consult a healthcare practitioner before use if you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition or are taking prescription medication, and keep supplements out of reach of children.

The Preparation Matters
The broader science of dietary nucleotides extends well beyond Beljanski.
What Mirko Beljanski developed was something more specific:
A defined source. A distinctive preparation. A research history spanning nearly five decades.
Today, that preparation continues through:
- ReaLBuild® Available directly to consumers.
- Immunobel-Pro® Twice the RNA fragments, available through healthcare professionals.
