The times we are going through are stressful. “Right now there's a lot of anxiety-producing stuff going on. As we prepare to slowly emerge from our shells, it is important to practice self-care, and revitalize yourself, and not allow anxiety to take over. Water can often be all we need and with the proper enhancement we can increase its benefits.
Take a hot bath, use lavender bath infusions, pillow sachets, and candles to help you fully relax your muscles and your mind. Put lavender sprigs in a vase on your desk or night table.
Drink your water! It's simple, but it’s something people tend to forget. Your body is 60% water, so be sure to keep your daily intake high -- drink at least eight 8oz glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated and at the top of its game!
If you are not much of a water drinker there are ways to get the water you need and included benefits to improve your well-being.
Have tea! Drinking a hot cup of tea can be a soothing, relaxing ritual. In addition, tea contains compounds that deliver some real health benefits. One of those compounds is L-theanine, which is known to be a “therapeutic” amino acid, facilitating relaxation and stimulating stress relief within the body. Additionally, tea may have some anti-inflammatory benefits. A year-long study was carried out with over 40 surgery patients that found L-theanine helped in keeping inflammation under control after surgery. (1)
All Teas Are NOT Created Equal
But some teas are even more beneficial than others: A recently published study (2) compared several well-known teas (Bigelow®, Kusmi®, and Lipton®), with a new green tea blend for their activities against several lines of cancer cells and the newcomer (OnkoTea®) came out on top, as the most potent anti-cancer effect on breast, liver and bladder cancer cells.
At the end of a prolific research project in China, Dr.Mirko Beljanski was presented with a large box filled with various teas known for their interesting health properties. Another clever way to drink water AND nourish each of our cells is to treat ourselves with a healthy treat. The retail sales growth of health-oriented food and beverage products is one of the most dynamic segments of the overall food and beverage market, and wellness drinks occupy a special place in this market as they are touted to provide a high amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
